The Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation Ltd.

The Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation Ltd. (KSWDC) was incorporated on 22nd February, 1988 with the aim of expanding economic and social opportunities for the women of the State, especially those belonging to the marginalized and downtrodden sections of society.The prime objective of the Corporation is the empowerment of women by helping them overcome the constraints and challenges that hamper their growth and advancement. KSWDC seeks to bring women to the frontline of societal development.

The helping hand of the Corporation has transformed the lives of many women and readied them to meet the challenges of life. The success stories of the many beneficiaries of KSWDC are a perfect testimonial of the Corporation’s commitment towards achieving an egalitarian society based on unbiased norms and values. KSWDC invests in the holistic development of women and our gender awareness programmes, career grooming services, and vocational training facilities seek to address women’s needs and concerns, and also equip them with skills and attributes to handle the resources and opportunities available to them.

KSWDC has disbursed 658.57 Crores among 42,469 beneficiaries so far. Many job oriented training and development programs have enabled girls from BPL families to find suitable jobs. Loan disbursement programmes for women entrepreneurs, Finishing School to attune young girls with corporate work scenarios, and Gender Awareness Programmes to reach out to hitherto ignored sectors also form part of our activities.

  • Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation Limited is set to launch ‘Vana Mithra’, our new initiative to empower tribal women, at Chakkittappara, Kozhikode on 19th of November.
  • The premiere screening  of  ‘Pennoruthi – An Ultimate Individual’, the short film produced by Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation in association with Kozhikode District Legal Services Authority will also be held on the same day at Sree Narayana Centeneray Hall, Kozhikode.

The second phase of Menstrual Hygiene Management programme of Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation (KSWDC) began with an awareness class for girl students at Veeranakavu in Kattakkada on Wednesday.

 

Speaking on the occasion, KSWDC Managing Director Ms VC Bindu said the ‘She Pad’ project being implemented in the state is the first of its kind in the country. KSWDC has been implementing the ‘She Pad’ project in 500 schools in 141 Panchayats, benefitting 15000 girl students.

 

The She-pad project is introduced among the adolescents girls in Govt/Aided schools in Kerala to promote good hygienic practices to influence the quality of life of women.
