Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP)

The Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation Ltd has been implementing entrepreneurship development program since 2007-08 with the objective of empowering women and transgender individuals. Each programs runs for a duration of 6 days focused on providing comprehensive support and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs in the age group of 18-55 years across the state. Through structured session’s handeled by eminent resource persons, participants are equipped with essential skills needed to pursue self-employment in various sectors.

Objectives

  • Impart entrepreneurship awarenessamong women and transgender individuals across the state.
  • Create awareness on different aspects of entrepreneurship and self-employment
  • Facilitate access to guidance and linkages for financial assistance to start new enterprises
  • Ensure the economic empowerment and self-reliance of women and TG through entrepreneurship
  • Enable participants to design structured pathway for their entrepreneur journey.

REACH, Resource Enhancement Academy for Career Heights

REACH, Resource Enhancement Academy for Career Heights, a finishing school initiative of the Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation was launched on 29th December 2009 with a view to bridge the gap between acquired skills and required skills for professionally qualified women. REACH is a pioneer among institutes aimed at empowering women with the required life-skills to ensure success in life. It is a professional grooming academy which works towards the social, economic and educational advancement of women, from across all cross sections of society.

REACH caters to the needs of aspiring young women from different walks of life and fine tunes their talents, triggers their skills, ignites their passion and builds their confidence so that they are empowered to transform challenges to opportunities and to blossom in their full potential.

The initiative which began as an institute at Trivandrum later on spread to the Malabar region with a branch at Payannur in Kannur district. REACH has conducted a wide array of courses at these centers and has successfully placed hundreds of women in reputed firms with decent pay packages. The Institute focuses on molding competent personnel as per the current industry trends and this has given us an ever growing list of satisfied clients. The candidates are trained in a vibrant environment that nurtures creative thinking and emotional intelligence.

Facilities

REACH, Thiruvananthapuram is working in a highly sophisticated building at East Fort. REACH, Kannur too is run in a well-furnished building premise at Pilathara. Both finishing schools are aesthetically equipped with state of the art facilities to ensure the right learning environment for its students. The common facilities are as follows:

  • IT enabled Smart Class rooms
  • Computer lab- PC’s, Audio- Visual facility, Interactive board, Wi-fi
  • Library – Collection of literary works and self-development books

Project Consultancy Wing

With a strong commitment to the empowerment and economic self-reliance of women and transgender individuals, the Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation (KSWDC) has played a pivotal role in nurturing a vibrant ecosystem of entrepreneurs across the state. Through a range of targeted loan schemes and support initiatives, the Corporation has supported thousands of entrepreneurs over the past 37 years, disbursing over ₹1100 crore in enterprise loans.

Now, going beyond financial assistance, KSWDC has established a Project Consultancy Wing (PCW) to provide strategic guidance and professional support to emerging entrepreneurs—helping them transform their ventures into profitable and sustainable businesses.

1. To provide end-to-end guidance to women- and transgender-owned enterprises from the inception stage, helping them steer their businesses in the right direction and achieve profitability.

2. To function as a nodal agency that integrates services and information from various government departments, agencies, and internal KSWDC divisions—offering a single-window platform for comprehensive support.

3. To offer dedicated support through specialized divisions within the Project Consultancy Wing, tailored to meet the diverse needs of entrepreneurs:

This initiative aligns with the Government of Kerala’s policy to promote entrepreneurship, and is designed to provide holistic support—right from business idea conceptualization to execution and growth. By fostering innovation and building capacity, this wing will play a crucial role in empowering new-age entrepreneurs and enhancing inclusive economic development across the state.

Future Women Leaders Grooming Program

KSWDC aims to develop a new generation of talented and influential female leaderswho can create huge impacts in the society. Different power positions of the societyshould be more representational in nature and it should reflect the interest ofdifferent sections of the society. Development of the state should be more inclusivein nature and women should be given equal rights and opportunities.During the financial year 2024-25, Kerala State Women’s Development Corporationhas initiated steps to launch ‘Future Women Leaders Grooming Programme’, whichis a leadership development workshop for the students nominated from the WomenCells of KSWDC from the respective colleges.The leadership grooming programme targets to conduct 100 hours of training inadministration and leadership aspects for 3 rd Semester PG students nominated fromthe Women Cell of various colleges across the State on first come first serve basis.The Programme is proposed to be conducted in collaboration with Higher EducationDepartment and recognized universities. The various orientation and trainingsessions will be carried out by the resource persons from different departments,
Prominent women leaders and academicians.

Objectives

  • To enhance the potentials of young women and girls which help them todevelop their leadership qualities
  • Give awareness to the young women about their rights and legal protections.
  • To improve young women’s representation and participation in the judiciary,executive and judiciary functions of the State.
  • Prepare the emerging women leaders to face the challenges in the socio-political scenario and thus influence the development of the state.

Vanamithra

The Kerala state Women’s Development Corporation Ltd launched “Vanamitra” project an Integrated Skill Development Centre for Scheduled Tribe (ST) women, with the dual objective of fostering skill development and promoting both wage employment and self-employment among tribal women. The initiative also aimed at advancing the overall empowerment of tribal women. The initiative was first piloted in ChakkittapparaGramaPanchayath serving as a key implementation partner. The project highlights its positive impact on the livelihoods and socio economic conditions of marginalized communities, while also identifying challenges and opportunities for scaling up. This initiative thus represents a pioneering effort in targeted livelihood interventions, contributing to inclusive development and empowering tribal women to achieve sustainable progress.

Objectives

  • Establish Integrated Skill Development centers for the empowerment of tribal women.
  • Provide maternity care and child care facilities to support women.
  • Enhance employability and economic development within tribal communities
  • Encourage active participation of tribal communities in social development while addressing their essential needs.
