Bamboo Mat- Making

KSWDC and The Kerala State Bamboo Development Corporation is jointly implementing the project for imparting Finishing School Training for Bamboo Mat Making.. The mechanization of bamboo sector will be carried out by KSBDC while organisation of women working in the sector and their training will be carried out by KSWDC.

Objectives

  1.    Establish Bamboo Mat Community Production Centres.
  2.    Ensure effective utilization of available bamboo in Kerala.
  3.    Skill upgradation of traditional bamboo mat weavers of the State.
  4.    To induct mechanization in Primary Bamboo Processing.
  5.    Enhance productivity and thereby income generation in the traditional bamboo sector.
  6.    Enhance Rural Employment Generation by encouraging more youngsters to take up mat making as a vocation.
  7.    Ensure sustainable livelihood development for bamboo workers.
  8.    As eco-friendly, popularize the use of bamboo products
